File operations live in this menu.
| Open | Brings up the file selector to allow you to choose a new file to read. If you have other files currently open then you will first be given a chance of selecting one of them. If you really want to open a brand new file then tap on Browse to get the file selector. |
| Close | Closes the currently open file. The difference between this and just opening another file is that unless you explicitly close a file OpieReader will remember stuff about it. Also, when you close a file you will be given the chance to delete its associated bookmarks, and even the file itself. |
| Info | Displays info about the currently open file. |
| On Action | Configures the Action Button (the circular button inside the cursor ring on the front of the Zaurus). You can choose which function gets invoked when the action button is pressed using this option. See here for a description of each action. |
| Navigation | Brings up the navigation sub-menu. |
| Set Dictionary | When you tap on the screen the selected text
is copied to a selection of targets (see below).
Using this function allows the word to be sent to compatible dictionary programs direct. The format is exename/messagename where exename is the name of the executable for the dictionary program and messagename is the name of the message it is expecting. You can get some idea of how it works by using some debug functionality which I deliberately left in OpieReader. Set this to reader/info. To deactivate it again, set it to "/" or use File/Target/Dictionary to remove it from the list of targets. |
| Two/One Touch | Sets the text selection mode. One touch selects the word nearest to the pointer when it is tapped on the screen. Two touch allows arbitrary pieces of text to be selected. The first touch marks the start of the text (the screen background also turns gray to let you know that you are half-way through a Two touch selection. The second touch marks the end of the selection (and the screen turns back to white again). To cancel a two touch operation select one touch mode and then go back to two touch mode, if desired. The next menu item determines what happens to the selected text. |
| Target | Brings up a sub-menu where you can decide where
selected text is sent. Any combination of targets may be selected.
Annotation: The annotation editor is brought up. See Annotations for more detail. Dictionary: The selected text is sent to the Dictionary app selected above. Clipboard: The selected text is sent to the clipboard. |
| Find | Brings up the search requester where you can enter a regular expression to search (again) for. |
| Fullscreen | Toggles fullscreen mode. |
